There are many Do-It-Yourself (“DIY”) wills packages available at the click of an online search today. So then the question becomes…why should I hire a lawyer to draft my will?
To ensure that your estate is cared for and passed on in the way that you want, it is important to have a will that can withstand scrutiny.
The money and time that you save through a DIY will may end up costing your estate and/or your heirs more time and money later if the will is not valid or its validity is contested because it wasn’t written in a manner adequate enough to withstand any objections.
Further, if you are concerned about the tax burden your heirs will face upon your death, a DIY will may not contemplate the tax solutions that are needed.
